Just get out of your own way.
Hello everybody,
So, you’re at the computer. It’s the hour you set aside to write, and you got nothing. You’re not alone my friend, we’ve all been there. Search for that spark to start you on a journey of creating a book or novel or graphic novel whatever that may be.
First thing to do when you are stuck is to get out of your own way. I can guarantee that you stop yourself from reaching where you want to be because of a little thing called comparison among other things. There is so much media all around us even though it can be inspiring subconsciously it takes a toll on us writers because we want our ideas to be original and good and liked. Which is not a bad desire but letting that sway your action can be damaging. So, you can get out of your own way by realizing an important fact in life. There’s nothing new under the sun. It hurts a little to realize but coming to terms with it will make writing fun again because you don’t have to worry about who’s doing what or something that has already been done. You can just write for yourself.
Okay throwing everything out the window, write down what you like. Start with things that already exist: books, movies, comics, quotes. And dive deeper and figure out what you like about those things. You can come up with:
