So, your Writing got Rejected
You poured your heart and soul into something and you got rejected…sorry to pour salt on your wound but sometimes just fully acknowledging it as a fact that’s not connected to anything can be helpful. It’s a fact of life that has no bearing on your self-worth so don’t go down that rabbit hole.
If you’re anything like me you’re going back pouring over what you could have done differently, or if you had just changed that one thing you would have gotten accepted but you didn’t get accepted and that’s okay. Please, please just know that it’s okay. Don’t set down your pen or shut your laptop and feel like you need to be someone great so they regret not choosing you, the fact of the matter is that there was someone else’s story that fit what they were looking for better and that doesn’t mean your story was terrible, don’t confuse the two. And whatever you do, don’t give up. You can’t; you have to keep writing. There is someone waiting to read the words you write, so you can’t give up.
I love what Kafa says about it that you need to take a break and focus on what’s in your heart. If you’re in the cycle of rejection and you keep throwing yourself at the wall trying to get it to break, if that’s you right now it’s time to take back and that’s not giving up. It’s taking a step back, there’s a difference. I’ve been where you are..heck, I am where you are. We’re in the same place trying to make it in this world, so take a step back for a little bit and come back to it with a clear head.
Thank you for reading. I believe in you! Now go forth and write!
