Story Transcends Medium
Story reigns transcended. Rule of thumb for any medium, ever. If there is a story people can and will be attracted to it. I bring this up because in the vast field of the arts, at least the ones I’m invested in, there is a divide between mediums. It’s a ‘you can’t sit with us situation’, that is quite frankly very limiting in the early stages of creation. Haven’t you noticed that a poorly made movie with an intriguing premise can still be enjoyed, the comic took. I’ve read mean comics where I hated the art and by the end of it, I started to like it because the story was still good, same with poor grammar. I’ve read a book written phonetically and it was amazing because of the story. Aesthetics won’t save you in the end. Because we as humans love stories. Because they are all focused on the story, before the camera gets adjusted, before a sketch is made, before a singular word is written, there’s an end in sight and that’s a story. A completely organic reactionary entity is what I like to think of story as, and if each of your mediums strive after a story, not getting caught up in all of the other things, your story will impact people.
