Personally, I’m a google docs stand…forever because it’s free. Scrivener, Campfire, Milnote, etc. are cool.

I’ve done some free trials of the big platforms. I love the set-up, the platform, the different sections. If I could afford them, I might venture to subscribe to one, but I’ve set up my google docs to have sections in folders all for free so even if I do become a famous author with publishing deals and tons of money, I think google docs will still have my heart. For a long time, I just wrote and never took advantage of what it was capable of so here’s some things you might not know about Google docs. Here’s 11 of my best tips.

  1. First off, you probably know this auto save. I’m obviously terrified of losing my work. I used to write in my notepad, and I lost the whole chapter. It was a sad day but google docs has autosave that saves every few seconds.
  2. Also, word of advice name it please, name your document so it doesn’t get lost in the sea of other things in your google docs.
  3. Add page numbers. Go to insert and near the button, you can choose what kind of page number you want, and this is important for later.
  4. Set up your headers.
